Why climbing fails

Dolphin cleaners climb using track grip, brush contact, and pump/impeller flow. When climbing stops, owners often blame the motor first — but clogged filters, worn tracks, and debris in the impeller are more common and more DIY-friendly.

Checklist before you book a repair

1. Empty and rinse the filter cartridge. A packed filter kills climb performance. 2. Inspect tracks / belts for stretch, missing teeth, or heavy wear. 3. Check brushes for even contact on the wall — flattened or tangled brushes lose grip. 4. Clear leaves and grit from the impeller intake (power off, follow your model manual). 5. Confirm pool water level and chemistry are in a normal range for your cleaner.

When DIY stops

Grinding noises from the drive, scorched smell, or a cleaner that still will not climb with a clean filter and good tracks usually needs bench assessment. Prefer meetup if you are in Brisbane; mail-in is available Queensland-wide when a meetup is not practical.
